Symbility vs. Xactimate

Anyone else had the opportunity to work with the Symbility software vs Xactimate. Our company is switching from Xactimate to Symbility (nation wide) and I have been testing the program for the last several months and I have to say; Xactimate has some competition now.

I really like the program, especially sketch. Easy to use, especially in tablet form. Cost wise from what I understand, is both a blessing to companies as well as contractors. Many of the contractors are jumping on board.

Anyone else out there using it or had come across it in some way or another? I would like to know.

Scott,

We have been researching Symbility as well as an alternate to Xactimate.

Curious as to what type of work you do and the ease of switching from Xactimate to Symbility went or is going.

There is concern about how it affects adjusters/contractors regarding software licensing, etc.

We are just beging our switch. I am a property claims adjuster and have used Xactimate for many years. Xactimate has kind of become a monopoly in the realm of estimating programs as you are surely aware. Contractors really don't like to have to use it but kind of have to.

Ease of use switching over is still unknown at this point since we are just starting our switch. Some of our divisions have already began to using and it started out bumpy but quickly smoothed out. I feel there will be a time frame of getting use to a new platform which I figure to be normal.

Not sure on your questions about "software licensing"? What specifically do you mean?

What is it that you do?

I have used Simsol in the past and find it to be a very competetive damage estimating program.

We are changing over to Symbility from MSB. Same company but with a twist. I am an Xactimate fan and Symbility is supposed t mirror Xactimate. Mirror so close that Xactimate is in court of patent infringement.

Doing large loss estimates from sketch is a beneift and Symbility is supposed to allow you to do this. Downside of Symbility is going to be the unit cost and materials database which is still going to be MSB. Xactimate allows you to drill down deeper for accurate pricing on the different materials used in commercial and residential construction.

We will see.
