Connellsville, Pa. man charged with filing false insurance claim

Charges have been filed against a Connellsville man who allegedly submitted a false claim to his insurance company to repair his damaged car. The Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General’s insurance fraud section on Thursday charged Matthew V. Masciarelli, 25, of 2102 Boyd Ave. with false insurance claim, theft by deception and intent to defraud insurance before District Judge Ronald Haggerty Jr. The charges stem from a one-vehicle collision on Dec. 3, 2012, in which Masciarelli lost control of his 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer, struck a mailbox and damaged the front end of his vehicle.
