Powerful storms left a trail of damage in the Chicago area. The National Weather Service confirmed at least four tornadoes touched down in Illinois Wednesday. As many as 18 reports of tornadoes came in Wednesday night. The tornado that swept through Pontiac, Illinois, which is about 100 miles southwest of Chicago, may have caused some of the worst damage. The tornado ripped off the side of a Shell gas station located along Reynolds Street, just east of I-55. Mangled metal and wood were tossed around. Some pieces shattered the windows of parked cars.
