Fire Tears Through Wooded Resort in Northern California

One person was injured in a fast-moving fire that destroyed a summer cabin, damaged five other homes and forced the evacuation of approximately 50 people from a densely wooded vacation resort along the Russian River near Forestville in Sonoma County, state fire officials said Monday. Residents of Summerhome Park, 3 miles northwest of Forestville, were evacuated to an adjacent beach shortly after the fire broke out at 3:20 p.m. Monday and spread into surrounding vegetation.
