Florida Regulators Reject Worker’s Comp Rate Filing

State regulators said Wednesday they rejected a rate filing from worker’s compensation insurers as “excessive and unsupported,” calling instead for a 5.5 percent decrease in rates.as “excessive and unsupported,” calling instead for a 5.5 percent decrease in rates. The National Council on Compensation Insurance, representing about 250 worker’s compensation insurers in Florida, sought a 3.3 percent decrease for 2015, state officials said. Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty said he saw nothing to ” justify a near doubling of the underwriting profit” in the filing.
