Former Postal Service Employee Sentenced for Workers’ Comp Fraud

A former U.S. Postal Service employee from South Lake Tahoe has received a one-year prison sentence for making a false statement to obtain workers’ compensation. Mark E. Leung, 60, was sentenced Tuesday in Sacramento by U.S. District Judge John A. Mendez. In addition to the prison sentence, the judge ordered Leung to pay $160,000 in restitution, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office news release. Court documents indicate Leung worked for the U.S. Postal Service until 1987, when he claimed he suffered a work-related injury.
