Home Damaged by Garage Fire in La Quinta, California

Two women are getting help from the Red Cross tonight after a fire badly damaged their home in the La Quinta cove. The fire was reported at 9:41 Tuesday night in the 52400 block of Avenida Herrera. Firefighters described it as "well involved" when they arrived on scene. It started in the garage and then spread to the home. The 2 women who live there say they had gone to dinner and came home to see what happened. They believe 2 cats and a tortoise were lost in the fire. There are no reports of injuries. An investigation into what caused the fire is underway.
