Ice storm set off flurry of insurance claims in Philadelphia

The Feb 5 ice storm left 660,000 customers without power, but it also left behind plenty of insurance claims. From auto to property, insurance companies experienced a slew of new claims, but those related to business-interruption losses are “far and away” the largest types of claims that businesses in the Philadelphia region have filed, said Marc Armstrong, managing principal of Aon Risk Solutions in Philadelphia.Essentially, business interruption coverage kicks in if a business is unable to run and operate.
