J.C. Penney Sued by Customer Injured in Fall

A retail clothing chain is being sued by a customer who claims she was injured when her heel caught a piece of carpet and she fell to the floor. Sheila Renau filed suit against J.C. Penney Corporation Inc., Charis Insurance Agency Inc. and general Growth Properties Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 12. Renau claims that as she entered the J.C. Penney at the Oakwood Center located at 197 Westbank Expressway in Gretna the heel of her shoe caught on an uneven piece of flooring where a stopper was placed and where carpeting began.
