WSVN - A South Florida police officer has been arrested and charged after he allegedly left the scene of an accident over the weekend. Thirty-five-year-old Larry Laverde was arrested and has been suspended with pay as he awaits the results of an ongoing investigation. According to police, Laverde was off-duty when he crashed into a car while driving his police cruiser along Southwest 127th Avenue and Miller Drive at around 2:30 a.m., Sunday. According to the arrest report, Laverde fled the scene after the crash without rendering aid to the crash victims. Laverde then went home and called a friend to tell him about what had occurred.
