Ohio man hides car, claims insurance for theft

A Maple Heights man thought he could hide his car and then claim that it was stolen to collect $9,000 in insurance money. He couldn’t. Ohio Lieutenant Governor and Department of Insurance Director Mary Taylor said Cleveland resident John Deskins Jr, 42, was sentenced to two years of probation By Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Kathleen Sutula. She sentenced Deskins for theft after evidence gathered by the Department showed Deskins abandoned his car at a local repair facility and then filed an insurance claim with Progressive Insurance, stating his vehicle had been stolen.
