Residents, City Pointing Fingers Over Basement Sewage Backup

Sewer backups in as many as six basements at Sturgis Loop in Lincoln last week resulted in an outcry from the affected residents claiming the city should reimburse them for damages. However, Mayor Gerarld Wise said the city didn’t cause the blockage and the city’s insurance adjuster is looking into the situation. Homeowners complained of the sewage backup sometime after 11:15 a.m. March 22 in the 100 block of Sturgis Loop. Wise said Roto-Rooter was called to fix the problem, which was caused by a buildup of grease.
