Steel Structure Under Construction Collapses, Six Workers Injured

Police and firefighters are on the scene of a building collapse at Bryant University Tuesday morning. Campus police say the collapse occurred at a domed structure under construction near the baseball field and not far from the Chace Athletic Center on the Smithfield campus. Officials said six construction workers were injured, some falling as far at 30 feet. All have what is described as non life-threatening injuries. The cause for the steel beam collapse has not been determined. The building under construction was an indoor practice facility.
