SUV Flips Off Long Island Expressway Overpass

Police say the driver of a SUV that flipped off a Long Island Expressway overpass was drunk. They say the driver’s 28-year-old wife was seriously injured in the accident Sunday in Old Westbury. Police say Steven Bevilacqua, of Commack, was traveling east when his vehicle crossed four lanes, struck a guardrail and went down the embankment. Police say his wife suffered severe head and internal injuries. Bevilacqua, 37, was charged with driving with ability impaired by alcohol and third-degree assault. He suffered head and lower abdominal injuries.
