Unoccupied Vehicle Rolls Into Glass Shop Storefront

A vehicle parked at a gas station in Tamaqua coasted across two lanes of traffic before smashing into another business Wednesday afternoon. According to a borough police incident report, the vehicle, a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, was parked and unoccupied about 1:40 p.m. on the east side of Route 309, in the parking lot of the Speedway, formerly Hess, gas station when the emergency brake failed, causing the vehicle to drift across the highway and hit the front of Smulligan Glass Shop, 330 Center St. The impact caused severe damage to the entrance of the building.
