Violent Home Explosion In Sarasota County, Florida

The investigation continues this morning after a violent home explosion in a Sarasota County neighborhood Thursday night. Now, we are learning that one person died in the blast. It happened around 9:30 p.m. at a home in the Colonial Oaks development off of East Cork Oak Street. Firefighters, the state fire marshal, ATF and the sheriff’s office have been on scene since, working to contain the fire, cleaning up debris in the area and investigating the cause. So far, it remains unknown what caused the explosion, and because resulted in what they’re calling a "defined debris field," investigators say it could be some time before they have the answer.
