Worker killed after falling 30 feet into empty water tank at the Northwest Water Reclamation Facility

A man working at a water treatment plant fell 30 feet into an empty water tank, St. Petersburg Fire Rescue tells 10 News. Officials say the 52-year-old man died shortly after the fall. It happened at the Northwest Water Reclamation Facility located on 26th Avenue North. The property is owned by Pinellas County Utilities. Detectives say the man, who has not been identified, was not wearing a safety harness while cleaning the tank. His death appears to be accidental.
