There's been a significant uptick in the number of tornadoes in 2012 with 95 in January and 33 in February, according to the NOAA Storm Prediction Center. This is significantly more than the 79 in 2011, 31 in 2010, and 42 in 2009 for the same time period.

According to reports from the Insurance Information Institute, the last week of February produced tornadoes that caused widespread devastation across Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio and Tennessee. The town of Marysville, Indiana was essentially wiped off the map.

If you're a property adjuster, I suspect that your spring vacation has already been cancelled.

"OK, for 4 years now when ever there is water or smoke mitigation I have not charged depreciation. My idea was that there was no "betterment". This mitigation just brings the insured to the point they were prior to smoke clinging to the walls or water needed drying. I'm dealing with AAIS policies although I do not beleive that would matter. AM I right or wrong?"

"I have a question for the group concerning liability exposure for air bag deployment. According to the Pathways program if the front air bag deployed on a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt LT, then you must replace seat belts in use at the time of the accident. Here is my question, if this vehicle is sent to a DRP shop, or inspected by a vehicle appraiser, how does one know how many persons were in the vehicle and where they were sitting..."
