Overview of Position As an Accounting Manager you will be responsible for managing a team of business analysts, working to develop, prioritize and execute the resolution of complex domestic auto client implementations and UATS.
This individual must possess critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills and is a trusted individual who can be counted on to provide consistent, high-quality results, often on complex problems.
The role includes, working with accounting teams to develop client based account mapping, reviewing monthly mapping errors, and managing client setup and change UATs.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job? Lead, manage, and develop team of accountants with a dedicated focus on client implementations and accurate accounting.
Act as a subject matter expert on auto warranty accounting, provide guidance on complex accounting issues.
Identify, propose, and support implementation of continuous improvement opportunities with a focus on reducing manual process risk and increasing team capacity.
Evaluates changes in risk structures, products, and enhancements to meet the business demands and leads the cross-functional working group that facilitates the successful implementation and documentation of the accounting.
Develops, evaluates, and provides documentation to support the resolution to on-going issues.
Partners and collaborates extensively with the business, FP&A, program accounting, underwriting and actuarial to understand and document client risk structures.
Develops documentation to provide knowledge transfer to accounting teams of client contracts and key accounting implications, client conversions and/or enhancements.
Performs other related duties as required to promote the overall process improvements, efficiencies, and effectiveness to support our internal and external customers.
Responsibility for the work of others: 6 Analysts Financial Responsibility: Support in management of overall Domestic Auto cost center budget.
Education: College degree in accounting, plus CPA, chartered accountant or equivalent designation required: CPA / ACA / ACCA / CIMA
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Accounting/Finance leadership role Property and Casualty Insurance experience Effectively managing teams remotely Knowledge and Skills: Strong technical acumen; US GAAP knowledge including knowledge of insurance accounting principles and revenue recognition standard Proven experience in improving processes and controls Solid understanding and experience with internal control frameworks Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience in preparing consolidated financial statements.
Ability to manage numerous projects/deadlines and prioritize workload accordingly.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments and overcome challenges Strong Microsoft Office skills
Experience leading teams and assessing and developing talent.
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have? Knowledge of US GAAP accounting for Insurance companies, and revenue recognition principles CPA preferred Insurance Accounting Minimum of 2 years public accounting experience
Experience in Insurance Accounting Proficient use of advanced Excel Familiarity with basic SQL query applications
