Job Description We are looking for a creative and high energy attorney interested in working at the nexus of law, business, technology, and data.
This role will join the Business Law & Compliance division of Allstates Law and Regulation enterprise to provide broad commercial counseling for Allstates emerging and non-insurance businesses as well as support matters across the enterprise relating to technology and privacy.

Responsibilities: Real time and critical business-focused commercial legal advice for a broad range of businesses and issues, including advising on product, marketing, and sales Structure, draft, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including technology, data, and service contracts Advise business partners on emerging business issues, legal subjects and risk management primarily in areas of commercial contract, regulatory, privacy, and consumer protection Executive presence and concise verbal and written communication a must Play a key role in executing strategy, action planning, and communication with business partners, business units, and other areas of Law & Regulation Anticipate legal concerns and provide creative problem solving in a dynamic business environment Complex research as to applicability of pertinent laws, statutes, regulations, rules, and other legal authority; ability to summarize concisely and collaborate with other areas of company to determine impact of new legal authority on business and enable action plans Understand interaction in regulated environments between business, policy, compliance, legislative and legal frameworks Comfort with executing on goals and objectives through ambiguity and in a changing business and legal landscape Execution abilities within a parent company and its family of companies Ability to manage outside counsel and budgets Prefer experience in the following areas: technology, commercial, artificial intelligence, data, privacy, intellectual property, and/or highly regulated sectors Business acumen with ability to quantify return on investments (create and contribute to business cases and risk evaluations) Assist in building a culture of constructive debate and conversations with a virtual team across multiple locations Supervisory
Responsibilities: This job may have informal supervisory duties.
A typical day for a Commercial Counsel might include:: Advising business partners on a new technology product rollout or a new corporate structure Coordinating, understanding, and synthesizing complex legal advice from other attorneys within Law and Regulation and outside experts to advise business partners in a simple, direct manner Drafting a complex data licensing arrangement or commercial deals Driving implementation of a compliance plan We are fortunate to have a talented, engaged, and hard-working team and are looking for someone with those same qualities.

Education and
Experience: Juris Doctorate 7+ years legal experience in a law firm or an in-house legal department for a mid- to large-sized company typical
Experience in the following areas: commercial, privacy, technology, cybersecurity, international, intellectual property, strategy, data, and/or highly regulated sectors
Experience operating within a parent company and its family of companies Preference for in-house experience advising a commercial business unit and/or business and work experience outside legal context Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Admitted and licensed to practice law in at least one state Functional Skills: Leadership skills, including team building, collaboration, coaching, developing and guiding Executive presence and concise verbal and written communication skills Budget management skills Project management skills Computer skills, including MS Office suite, used in or related to the tasks performed Analytical skills Ability to be discrete and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information Business acumen with ability to quantify return on investments (create and contribute to business cases and risk evaluations) ***Ability to travel to the Chicagoland office location as required #LI-PC1 Skills Customer Centricity, Digital Literacy, Inclusive Leadership, Learning Agility, Results-Oriented Compensation Compensation offered for this role is $112,000.00 - 196,750.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
