Merlinos & Associates is a property, casualty, life, health, and disability actuarial consulting firm serving clients in the U.S. and internationally.  With more than 50 actuarial professionals -- including more than 30 credentialed actuaries all located in our metropolitan Atlanta headquarters -- we are one of the largest independent actuarial firms in the United States.

We deliver our actuarial services to a wide range of clients, including primary insurers, reinsurers, municipalities, state insurance departments, law firms, examination firms, audit firms, managing general agencies, self-insured entities and groups, captives, and risk retention groups.  We handle virtually all lines of property, casualty, health, life, and disability insurance.

Job Summary: The Product & Compliance position will support respective consultants through all development phases of our clients’ products’ life cycles.  This position will be responsible for the state SERFF filings of multiple P&C insurance lines, while also assisting with the creation, implementation and maintenance of these programs.  Additional duties may be assigned based on our clients’ needs relating to the compliance or product development sectors.

Job Duties:

  • Develop and prepare rule, rate and form filings in SERFF to gain regulatory approval.
  • Review and analyze state insurance department statutes, regulations, bulletins, etc. to determine filing and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with review and analysis of the past market trends, client’s product pricing, and competitor comparisons in the market place with regards to product coverage, offerings and price.
  • Assist in data gathering and analysis for compliance or product related issues to pursue market opportunities.
  • Provide technical support to teams for product or compliance related issues.
  • Coordinate interaction with consultants, regulatory agencies, and other areas.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree with 5-7 years insurance work experience. Working business knowledge of insurance line products. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization. Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly Excel and Word. Demonstrable experience in product development or compliance.

Understands the business and responds to all related issues and problems in a timely manner. Works independently and in a team environment; promotes teamwork.

CPCU, ACP, AINS, AU, ARC or CCP designations or any similar coursework is a plus. Ability to understand, synthesize, and convey complex data preferred. Basic to intermediate SAS and SQL programming skills including the ability to create basic programs a plus.
