Job Description

Play a critical role as a member of the Agile Transformation Office to help us move towards a lean/agile/product mindset and enable other organizations across Allstate to do the same.   As a Release Train Engineer, you will be working with multiple to help us lead and support transformation initiatives.

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART). The RTE’s major responsibilities are to facilitate the ART events and processes and assist the teams in delivering value. RTEs communicate with stakeholders, escalate impediments, help manage risk, and drive relentless improvement.

Proven leadership skills in directing all phases of a release from concept to plan to execution.

High motivation and passion to work in a fast, agile environment with the ability to adapt to change

Exceptional collaboration, listening, written, and verbal communication skills, including an ability to clearly communicate with management, business users, and IT resources

 

Key Responsibilities

Manage and optimize the flow of value through the ART using the Program Kanban and other information radiators

Establish and communicate the calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs)

Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering the preparation of Vision and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning meetings

Facilitate the PI planning events for a global organization

Summarize Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives and publish them for visibility and transparency

Assist tracking the execution of features

Facilitate periodic ART synchronization meetings

Assist with economic decision-making by facilitating feature estimation by teams and the roll-up to Epics, where necessary

Work with Agile coaches to help leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters understand Lean-Agile practices and mindsets

Help manage risks and dependencies

Escalate and track impediments

Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks

Encourage collaboration between teams and System Architects/Engineering

Work with the Product Manager, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment

Report status to Agile Transformation Office leaders and support related activities

Drive relentless improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops; assess the agility level of the ART and Solution Train and help them improve

 

 

Qualification

Minimum 3-5 years relevant work experience.

Experience working with Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools (Jira, Rally, VersionOne)

Agile Release Train Engineer, Agile Coach or Scrum Master experience preferred

Experience with Kanban, Scrum, XP, SAFe, organizational change management desired

Scaled Agile certification desired: SAFe Agilist (SA), RTE, or SPC

Exposure to Web, Mobile and cloud technology

Experience implementing business critical, high volume, and highly available web-based applications is a must

Exposure to Test Driven Development (TDD) and CI/CD pipeline
