Homeowners insurance covers wind

As Lake Township tornado victims try to piece together their lives, most of them are doing so with the help of their homeowners' insurance. Unlike flood damage, which often isn't covered by insurance, tornado damage is considered wind damage, which is standard coverage, according to local insurance agents. On Monday, a preliminary estimate of $100 million in losses was blamed on the tornado that swept through the township Saturday night.
