Storm rips through Bridgeport; State of Emergency declared in city, Rell visits to inspect damage

A major storm passed through the area Thursday afternoon, causing severe damage in Bridgeport, especially in the southern part of the city. Mayor Bill Finch has declared a State of Emergency in the city. Trees were ripped from the ground in downtown Bridgeport, some roofs were torn off of structures, and a few buildings reportedly collapsed or partially collapsed. Some early reports have indicated the storm may have included a tornado that touched down in Bridgeport.
