Insured losses from Ohio September storms top $17 million

An onslaught of tornadoes and high winds across Ohio on Sept. 16 caused at least $17.2 million in damage, according to preliminary insurance figures. Nine tornadoes and high winds strafed several counties, with the worst damage near Wooster and in Athens County, where a tornado touched down near Nelsonville and straight-line winds destroyed homes in The Plains.
