Congress should significantly raise oil pollution liability cap: Report

The liability cap of $75 million under the Oil Pollution Act should be significantly increased to provide adequate compensation to those harmed by an oil spill and to provide incentive for energy companies to adopt stringent safety practices, a presidential commission’s report recommends.
