Taskforce to oversee claims

THE Insurance Council of Australia has declared its fourth catastrophe in three weeks by categorising the Victorian floods as a disaster. It follows three similar declarations about the Queensland floods made last month. The decision means that although insurers will handle claims, oversight of the process would go to a specially designated taskforce that includes the ICA, the emergency services and the state government.
