Winter is insurance claim season for homeowners

With leaking roofs, falling trees and power outages, winter is often the most active time of year for insurance companies fielding claims from homeowners in Connecticut. Winter storms are the third-largest cause of catastrophic losses behind hurricanes and tornadoes, according to Loretta Worters, vice president of the Insurance Information Institute.
