Possible tornadoes slam St. Tammany

An early morning line of violent storms pounded the New Orleans metro area the day after Mardi Gras, flooding streets, homes and cars and high winds ripped the area and caused damage. All across the metro area tornados were reported, damaging homes and injuring one woman in St. Tammany Parish. The heavy rains, which dumped several inches of rain in less than an hour, overwhelmed pumping stations in Kenner, Metairie, and New Orleans, snarling the morning commute.
