Insurance companies are just waiting for the wildfires to be extinguished so they can get in and assess the damage to their customers property, a spokesman for the Insurance Council of Texas said. Mark Hanna said Thursday that companies are treating the widespread wildfires as they would a natural disaster. "The way the claims are already coming in, were already treating this like a weather catastrophe, like a hurricane," he said. "The wildfires are ravaging a huge area of the state, all the way from Marfa to Amarillo and hundreds of miles east of there.
