Insurance companies representing dozens of stores at the Roseville Galleria have filed claims against Placer County seeking more than $23 million in restitution as a result of its role in last years fire. The Placer County Board of Supervisors formally rejected the claims Tuesday. A senior county official called the claims, filed in advance of an April 21 deadline, a "fishing expedition." The insurers are also contemplating legal action against the city of Roseville, asserting that the county, and possibly the city, have some culpability in the $55 million in damage caused by the Oct. 21 fire.
