The winds of change have blown strongly in Lansing this year. The question is whether theres enough left to repeal or weaken Michigans motorcycle helmet law. The laws opponents hope so. Theyve been fighting its helmet requirement for decades. State lawmakers joined their ranks in recent years, but legislation to repeal the statute was vetoed by Gov. Jennifer Granholm in 2006 and 2008. Gov. Rick Snyder hasnt taken a stand on the helmet laws reform. If the latest legislation passes, however, only his veto would keep it from becoming law.
