Lakeside neighbors blame street project for basement flooding

John Hummel has lived 21 years in his home on Ivanhoe Street and said he never before had a problem with water in his basement. That was until last week. Hummel doesn’t blame Monday’s 3- to 5-inch downpour, although it certainly contributed to the moldy carpet now piled in his driveway. He primarily blames the construction crews working to rebuild his Lakeside street. Gravel for the roadbed has been piled on the upper side of Ivanhoe, obstructing stormwater grates there.
