Insurers on guard against fraudulent storm claims

An insurance industry group reports bogus insurance claims related to recent storms have begun to emerge. The New York Alliance Against Insurance Fraud reports that suspicious claims have begun to come in as residents from across the state begin filing for relief for damages caused by Tropical Storms Irene and Lee. Though many claims are certainly warranted, the association warned that others are taking advantage, and that could have a longer term effect of higher premiums for all New Yorkers in the long run.
