Horse and rider hit by truck in Broken Arrow

A man is in the hospital, his horse is dead and another man is in jail. Just after midnight Thursday, Broken Arrow Police say two men were riding horses near the intersection of New Orleans and 9th Street when a pickup truck ran into one of the horses. The rider, 20-year-old Michael Wick of Broken Arrow, was flown to a Tulsa hospital and listed in critical condition early Thursday. Wick’s horse did not survive the accident. Police arrested the driver of the truck for suspicion of drunk driving. 35-year-old Andrew Caldwell of Broken Arrow was driving a 2011 Chevrolet pickup. He was wearing a seatbelt and was not hurt.
