By the time it hit Connecticut, Irene was downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm. But many Connecticut residents find themselves having to pay huge deductibles on their insurance claims. State Representative Robert Megna, who heads the legislative insurance committee, says the primary concern of his committee is straightening out this matter in fairness to Connecticut residents. “Its important, I think, that the market only entertain large windstorm deductibles with hurricanes. Thats what most states do and thats what we want to do here in Connecticut,” he told WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau.
