Community shocked when student drowns in school pool

A student is dead after drowning in the East Hartford High School pool Wednesday. The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. The student was out of the pool by the time officials arrived. Paramedics preformed CPR on the student at the scene, and all the way to Hartford Hospital, officials say. The student was pronounced dead at the hospital. Other students and parents were in shock after word of the drowning got out. "It scared me," said Tracy Holmes, student. "A lot of the kids were freaked out and they were starting rumors about it. A lot of people were saying some really bad stuff, like a kid cracked his head open."
