Floods swamp southern Texas

Officials say dozens of homes are flooded after rains drenched the Houston area this week and caused creeks to flow out of their banks. Jeff Lindner, a meteorologist with the Harris County Flood District, says homes are reported flooded in northwest Harris County and Montgomery County, with water levels ranging from several inches to 4 feet. He says Little Cypress Creek was flowing 2 to 3 feet above its banks. Michael Walter of the City of Houston Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management says some Houston neighborhoods weren’t flooded but were impossible for residents to get in and out of due to flooded roads.
