Mom, teen daughter dead in Gary fire, 5 hurt; police suspect arson

Officials in Gary, Indiana, say a fire that killed a teenage girl and mother was deliberately set. Firefighters were called to the Lakeshore Dunes apartment complex building located in the 5800-block of Kennedy Terrace just after midnight. The victims have been identified as Bernice King, 33, and her 14-year-old daughter Angel Harris. King’s last call for help was to her sister. "She was screaming at the top of her lungs, please help me, please help me, my apartment is on fire," said Michelle King, Bernice’s sister.
