Fire on troubled water taxi halts service

The captain of a West Seattle Water Taxi is being credited with thinking quickly and getting his vessel to shore and the passengers off safely after a fire was reported onboard. The Rachel Marie had just left West Seattle bound for Seattle about 7a.m. Friday when crews noticed a fire in the engine room, Seattle Fire Department Spokesperson Kyle Moore said. The captain turned the boat around and returned to his West Seattle dock where the passengers evacuated.
