The School Alliance Insurance Fund is in the process of reviewing a $20,000 claim filed by the Emerson School District for damage caused by Hurricane Sandy. SAIF recently received $5 million from Lexington Insurance as prepayment for damage to 11 Bergen County school districts that could eventually total $20 million, stated Stephanie Voorhees, SAIF chairwoman. Although these funds have been designated for Bergen County school districts, Emerson Interim Superintendent Phil Nisonoff noted that the Emerson School District has not yet received any notice from SAIF for any reimbursements.
