Colorado’s growing industry of public insurance adjusters would face greater regulation under a bill being crafted by state officials. The legislation would give the state Division of Insurance authority to suspend and revoke public adjusters’ licenses — power it currently lacks, said Jo Donlin, director of external affairs for the division. Still to be determined is whether it will include caps on fees or restrictions on how public adjusters solicit business. "This is not a witch hunt about public adjusters," Donlin said. "We think public adjusters play a very valid and important role in Colorado. But we want to make sure with the influx we have seen that we have a regulatory structure that protects consumers."
