Former NFL Player Charged With Insurance Fraud in California

A former National Football League linebacker is facing charges for what prosecutors say was a $1.5 million scheme to defraud a Sacramento insurance company. The U.S. attorney’s office said Friday that 42-year-old Marcus Buckley, who played seven seasons for the New York Giants, has been charged with wire fraud and money laundering. Buckley, of Weatherford, Texas, is accused of filing false workers’ compensation claims for football-related stress injuries.
