Van Ends Up In Basement After Crashing Into Homewood House

A van went off the road and hit a fire hydrant before crashing into a vacant house in Homewood Tuesday morning. According to police, the crash happened around 1:35 a.m. on North Lang Avenue. The van initially came to rest on the first floor of the home, but the floor gave way and the vehicle ended up in the basement.“This time, the car not only went into the building, it went down into the building. So, this is kind of a unique situation we have here. Currently, the responders last night put a temp post up. The building is secure, there’s no danger of it collapsing,” John Jennings, the acting chief of the Bureau OF Building Inspection, said.
