Emergency crews say a bus of US Army Reserve soldiers returning from training crashed in Mooresville, injuring 29 people.
The incident was reported Friday just before 3 p.m. at Oak Meadow Road and Highway 150. The bus was transporting troops from Charlotte-Douglas International Airport to Salisbury. The Army Reserve members are from the 991st Transportation Company based in Salisbury. They were returning after two weeks of training. Officials said the bus slowed for turning traffic, slid to the right and ran off the road. Emergency crews said 29 people were injured. Of those, 14 were taken to local hospitals. Brittney Stevens husband, Michael was one of them. She recalls the frantic text message she got from her husband, saying hed been in an accident.
