Central Toledo sinkhole costs city $100K total

It made national headlines in July - and now the city council is getting the bill for a massive sinkhole that ripped apart a major intersection.That bill is to pay for the emergency repairs to the street and sewer lines where the sinkhole occurred. One woman was injured when the ground opened up below her and swallowed her whole as she drove through Detroit and Bancroft. She fell - car and all - several feet below the street, was recovered by firefighters, and made a full recovery. It turns out, a crossover section connecting two sewer lines collapsed July 3, causing the sinkhole.
