Burning flares inside the trunk of a police vehicle are to blame for a burnt out cruiser.
Toledo Police Sgt. Edward Mohr stated in a report that he was driving his cruiser on White near Idaho around 4:30 a.m. Friday when he began to smell an odor of burning sulfur. He noticed smoke pouring into his vehicle from the backseat and then stopped and exited the vehicle. Sgt. Mohr moved a distance away from the cruiser and waved off other vehicles from passing too close. He describes seeing the bright red glow from a flare as the flare burned through the bottom of the trunk and onto the pavement.
