Fire destroys Tooting Otter bar at Wekiva Island Park, Fla.

An early-morning fire destroyed the Tooting Otter bar inside the Wekiva Island Park in Longwood. The fire broke out around 2:45 a.m. Monday on Miami Springs Drive. When Seminole County firefighters arrived, they found flames shooting out of the building. Multiple crews were called in to battle the blaze. The family-friendly bar was about 2,000 square feet in size and a popular destination. "It was a popular place, kind of a hangout for families right along the river. You can get canoes. There were some cabanas over on the side where you can hang out and enjoy the weekend with your family. A great place to come," said Lt. Todd Zellers from the Seminole County Fire Department. The bar, which was previously called Alexander’s, burned to the ground in 1999 and was rebuilt.
