The accused mastermind behind a plot to burn down four area residences and collect more than $185,000 in insurance payouts will spend more than two years in prison.
Rocky Edward Williams, 55, accepted a plea agreement Friday morning and pleaded guilty before Circuit Judge Sandra Edwards-Stephens, who imposed the sentence of two years, two months and three days in prison for each charge. The sentences will run concurrently. The state charged Williams with a first-degree felony count of organized fraud and four third-degree felony counts of burning to defraud the insurer.
He will also serve two years of probation. Williams has five co-defendants: Christina S. McDonald, 31; Wayne Eugene Breier Jr., 31; George J. Beckett III, 42; his wife, Brenda, 40; and Amber D. Williams, 26, who is no relation to the ringleader. All of the co-defendants cases are still pending.
