The Association of British Insurers (ABI) said it expects the countrys insurers to “deal with a total of 105,000 claims, and pay out £130 million [$208 million] to policyholders whose homes, businesses and vehicles were damaged during last weeks St Jude storm,” according to initial estimates from Aidan Kerr, the ABIs Head of Property. He described the storm [named Christian in continental Europe] as a “significant event with some tragic consequences, but advance warning meant that people were well prepared and could take steps to minimize damage and disruption.
